Artisanal: Sweet



We so enjoyed our main courses at Artisanal, and since most of us ordered the prix fixe menu (a set price for a smaller range of menu options), dessert was included. Let's get cracking, then!



I didn't need to think about it. Crème Brûlée (burnt cream--sounds so much better in French, n'est-ce pas?), please! Look at those delightful vanilla beans scattered in that custard.



My dessert was gorgeous and sublime, and if I'd been at home I would have grabbed a spatula to scrape up every last bit of those vanilla beans.



Patty got the chocolate cake, which had a surprisingly crispy layer in between the softer, dark chocoate layers




We also ordered a cheese plate for the table, which came with no explainer. Instead, they left a multi-page listing of the cheeses, with boxes marked off to show (I assume) which cheeses we got. Well great..but which was which?



Regardless, they were delicious, and we did our best to finish them.




A mini-tier of cookies and cakes came along, too. They were petite, adorable, and lovely to look at, but their flavors were a bit flat and disappointing. I would not bother getting these again, though they did make for a pretty presentation.



I'd recommend a lovely lunch of the French onion soup, risotto, and a crème brûlée to end the meal--but make sure you're not in a rush!
