Gossip Girl Gimmick

My friend the NewsHawk was in town recently, and I joined him and his friends for a wandering along the Upper West Side (including lunch at Niko's). We stepped in to the lobby of the Empire Hotel for a drink, and we were surprised to see an entire drink menu devoted to the "Gossip Girl" show, a guilty pleasure show that many people reluctantly age 18 & over confess to watching.

I ordered the Georgina's Mind-Eraser, mostly for the mention of pomegranate! There wasn't an explanation of what the atomic fireball is, but I'm assuming it was the inky blue substance that ended up streaking all the way down the side of my glass, onto my fingers, etc. I was surprised that a drink this messy didn't automatically come with napkins. It looked like a dye pack had exploded in my hands!I'm not sure why it's a 'fireball' either, as there was nothing spicy about it.

The drink tasted good, but wasn't especially amazing. I probably wouldn't get it again, but I did enjoy myself as we took in the awesome people-watching and enjoyed your plush surroundings. At $15 a drink, it's not cheap, but it's not as outrageous as other tourist-adjacent offerings!
